Often when people say “Oh I couldn’t do that” there is generally more behind the statement. I often think to myself… is it that they couldn’t or does it really mean they “won’t ?” That could be confrontational and won’t get anyone to a resolution. Does the matter need to be taken back to the drawing board to come up with another possible solution?
